Brett's Video Game

AMC 10pm Sunday Nights

Breaking Bad.

You guys gotta watch this show. I for one rarely watch any written shows on TV, I think the only ones I've watched religiously were: when I was a kid Rugrats and Doug. When I was teenager I think watched Sportscenter way too much but mixed in with South Park/Simpsons, then of course reruns of syndicated classics on TBS, and Flight of the Conchords.

But I've never actually followed a drama intensely, and I must say I'm hooked.

Basic Plot Outline of the first two episodes you may have missed:

High School Chemistry Teacher (Bryan Cranston, Dad in Malcolm in the Middle, and I believe he played in a few episodes of Seinfeld as Dr. Jim Whatley?), finds out he has Lung Cancer, declines to inform his Wife and son. So in an effort to make sure they'll have enough money, he turns to drugs, making them that is. And all fucking hell breaks loose, tight show, set your alarms on your cellphones as I have for Sunday 10pm, great fucking show.

Old School Webber and Sprewell

Keller your something of a genius

So motherfucking punisher is comin back huh? lame. the first one sucked my red penis, the second wont do much either. But hey, thats sick its right next to you. Derek what are you doing ehere you are? Please indulge and Orr. I also believe that one of the greatest items in a store are canned goods, they dont go bad bro! Fuckin spectacular. Yahoo sports is grand Scott, write a fuckin letter and suck a cock.....sorry, I didint mean for that to sound mean. Much love to you all.
So, I already am starting to fuck up with my new GF. Last monday i got blacked out and made out with a girl, i dont remember it though. When i found out i told her because i didnt want her to find out any other way. I got a whole new reason to hate myself again. Im beginning to think that little post i did earlier has even more truth than I thought. I wish i wasnt being such a fuck up in life, i need some help.

Skip, Skip, Skip-to-my-Lou

Mr. Skip-to-my-Lou almost had a triple-double against the Dubs?? I only got to see the first quarter because I actually got to go and listen to Bob Ladouceur speak at an event (which was really good; inspiring). But the first quarter looked very ugly and based on the box score, it looks like they were not able to get over that hideous twelve minutes. The Warriors better wake up and start winning the games that they are supposed to win - play consistent solid basketball regardless of the level of play their opponents are at. They seem to be playing down to opponents left and right and like mark stein said today on "the great" fitz and brooks show, "this is not the year to screw around". No more screwing around! No more bullshit quarters! No more Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo jumping up and down like a giddy school girl (or Derek in Vancover's Chinatown)!

Also, I want to give props to Leon Powe and his career-best game. He does not get to play much when Kevin "Give Me the Fuckin Ball Cause Im THAT Good" Garnett is in the game, but he was able to show that when he's given the time on the court, he can produce.

Best News About ESPN I've Heard In A Long Time

According to sources of Damon Bruce, these are actual facts, that Yahoo Sports in the months of September, October and November of 2007 had more internet "hits" then ESPN.com these numbers were provided by who I wish I could remember.

Bruce proclaimed that "...the sports fans are some of the most knowledgeable people on the planet. When they smell a rat they know what to do. When ESPN only talks about New York and Boston teams 95% of the time, the people become angry and bored. Yahoo Sports in recent months has hired some highly touted writers and is taking over in the sports world as one of the better universal mass medias for sports..."

With this I hope ESPN will get the message, and they should because you know what ESPN is missing out on all this, money. And what does ESPN want, money of course, why do you think they cross-polinated with ABC? Because cross-advertisement would bring revenue. ESPN will hopefully get this message, and they will, it may take time, but lets hope it brings back the ESPN of old. When sports mattered, when teams on the other side of the Mississippi mattered, when people cared about more then just the Lakers before Shaq was traded.

Thank you Damon Bruce and thank you Yahoo Sports. I debated lately about leaving Yahoo Sports for another Fantasy Realm but Yahoo Sports is too good at what they do, user friendly, universal coverage on lots of teams, and you may have to pay for some features but its just too greatly run of a website to leave. Yahoo Sports officially bigger then ESPN.com you heard it hear, first.

also Orr

i just found out they are filming the next Punisher movie right next to my school tomorrow for the next week or so. Although it's too bad I don't think Travolta or Rebecca Romijn Keller are in the new one. But i'll tell the Punisher Orr says Hi.

i said grab some pine, meat

because Pedro Feliz is no longer a giant. And Mike Krukow the announcer of the giants always tells guys to Grab Some Pine, Meat when they leave the batters box.

I think you Warrior fans need to get your heads out of your jew asses, and realize the Warriors sucked for 14 years, had one decent year, DECENT...... and they will continue to suck ass again. Also Webber is a jinx and is the ruined their chances 14 years ago. Hmmm any more negative thinking i can put into this .... nope.

also lately i've discovered something at safeway that is really under rated. Canned Goods. Tuna, Pineapple slices, beans. That a babe.

don't judge too quickly

question on webber

so i was listening to KNBR today and they were debating over whether or not it was a good move on the Warriors behalf to sign Webber. Mr. T and the Razor were both saying they would like to see it "work" before they give the sign the green-light; but they also reiterated a few times that they thought it was not a good idea because Webber is not a solid defender at Center. I see how they could say Webber is not a solid defender, but why do they mention at Center? Is Webber going to play Center for the Warriors? I have always thought Webber as more of a Power Forward with the ability to play at the top of the key, or something along the lines of that.

Someone shed some light on this.
why did you just say grab some pine derek?

i think it will be cool for weber to come back to the warriors. if nelly is down, as well as chris, to bite the bullet, sack up the ego, be a couple of men and get the fuck along? then its super. but, a serious, and very possible, downfall could occur if either they cannot get along, or if the dynamic the warrior players have shown and are showing is comprimised in anyway. the last thing we want is an unhappy noob(even if he is a returning warrior) ruining our hoopers with negativity.

by the way, for those of you that have not played it, rock band is the greatest thing since the invention of the red headed individual. the singing is so sick. and it gives me and excuse to belt out some tunes in front of chicks without feeling too much like a homo. HOWEVER, if this game were to ever be placed in the nads of a couple arabs, (both whose names begin with "K") i would find a way to personally chew my mother fucking own ears off.....seriously though, test me.

school started today, i fell asleep within the first 20 minutes of my finance class.....and my class started at 12:00. im ready to learn!

grab some pine, MEAT!

Chris Webber....a Warrior Again.

Chris Webber's unlikely but fast-moving return to the Golden State Warriors is on course to be completed by Tuesday, according to sources close to the negotiations.

Barring an unexpected change of heart, sources said, Webber will accept the invitation from former coach Don Nelson and former teammate Chris Mullin to come back to the team with whom he won NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 1994, only for Webber to force a trade to Washington some six months later when his prickly relationship with Nelson collapsed.

I think if he comes, it can benefit our team, it can benefit his and my relationship, it can benefit players on this team. I think he has a chance to make some of our players better and make our team better.

--Don Nelson

"I hope that it happens to be quite honest with you," Nelson told Bay Area reporters Sunday before the Warriors hosted the New York Knicks. "I think our team needs it."

Nelson made his own surprising and triumphant return to Oakland last season, guiding the Warriors to their first playoff berth since they went 50-32 in Webber's rookie season in 1993-94. Sources say Nelson and Mullin, now the Warriors' vice president of basketball operations, are confident that the 67-year-old coach and Webber are ready for this seemingly hard-to-fathom reunion after multiple conversations in recent days.

For his part, Nelson has maintained that he and Webber reconciled years ago, when he chose Webber to replace the injured Shaquille O'Neal -- over Dirk Nowitzki from Nelson's Dallas Mavericks -- as the West's starting center for the 2002 All-Star Game in Philadelphia.

Webber could not be immediately reached for comment Sunday, but sources insist that he would be Golden State-bound now even if the Detroit Pistons made an 11th-hour bid to re-sign him. The Warriors have offered to sign him for the rest of the season for a pro-rated share of the league's $1.2 million veteran minimum.

After a second-half stint with his hometown Pistons last season that ended in defeat in the Eastern Conference finals, Webber told ESPN.com in October that he would only play "as a Piston" this season . . . "unless something crazy happens." But he has relaxed that stance in recent weeks.

Webber last week rejected the opportunity to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers after they lost Andrew Bynum to a knee injury in part, sources said, because L.A. wanted Webber to play out two 10-day contracts before it made a decision on keeping him. Conversations with the Warriors developed from Golden State's discussions with fellow veteran Gary Payton, as Payton and Webber are both represented by agent Aaron Goodwin.

Although the Pistons have retained an interest in bringing Webber back all season, they would still need to clear a roster spot to make room for the 34-year-old and have either been unable or unwilling to do so. Pistons president Joe Dumars indicated last week that the club was unlikely to buy out the contract of either Primoz Brezec or Flip Murray just to add Webber.

On the surface, Webber appears to be a questionable fit for the up-and-down Warriors, given the mobility issues that have plagued him since a major knee injury in the 2003 playoffs and subsequent microfracture knee surgery. Golden State, however, lacks veteran know-how and frontcourt depth. The Warriors believe Webber's passing and mid-range shooting can address some of their half-court struggles and give them a new offensive outlet when the game slows down or their 3-pointers aren't falling.

"I would love to have Chris Webber," Stephen Jackson told reporters, according to The Associated Press. "I'm not sure if it will happen or not but if he comes here we'll definitely welcome him with open arms. He's a great player and I'd love to have him. We'll see what happens."

At the very least, Webber's arrival would double the number of true big men Nelson is willing to play. Andris Biedrins is the only current Golden State power player entrusted with meaningful minutes; Al Harrington and Matt Barnes are natural small forwards who operate as power forwards for the smallish Warriors.

Nelson asserted over the weekend that he has little doubt that there's a place for Webber's voice in a locker room that already houses the outspoken duo of Baron Davis and Jackson.

"Our leadership is so strong here I wouldn't worry about that," Nelson said. "I'd say, if anything, we'd be stronger. More veteran leadership is a good thing. I've got enough rookies."

It remains to be seen how Webber will respond if Nelson plays him limited minutes or even sits him some nights, but Golden State figures it's a low-risk, inexpensive gamble that will pay off if Webber can match the production he managed last season in Philadelphia and Detroit, averaging 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Those numbers dropped to 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game in the playoffs, but Nelson is undaunted.

"I'm afraid if we don't get him here [that] our team is not strong enough to be a playoff team," Nelson said. "That's my biggest fear. I think if he comes it can benefit our team, it can benefit his and my relationship, it can benefit players on this team. I think he has a chance to make some of our players better and make our team better. Really that's all that's important. I'll get along with anybody who can help our team."

Nelson orchestrated a draft-day trade in Orlando in 1993 to land Webber, who at the time was only the second college sophomore in history to go No. 1 overall. But they barely lasted one season together, with Webber dealt to Washington for Tom Gugliotta and three first-round picks and Nelson losing his dual role of coach-GM shortly thereafter.

"I've learned over the years," Nelson said Sunday night. "I've softened a bit through some of the experiences I've had. I look back at the time when Chris and I were here early in our careers. We were both pretty stubborn and I was maybe too tough and he was too young to see the positives I was trying to bring to the table. I've learned and I think he has, too. Hey, I'm an old man and he's an old player."

Thank you Mr. Smeeder. I couldnt have done it without the love and cherishment of my gay lifepartner Scott Celestre. Stand up Scott, (Scott stands) He's never complained about being the taker in the relationship, thank you sweetie.

The joke that is my life. A rendition of an Orr.

Hello my friends, and welcome to a show that is both interesting and enlightening. A rendition, one may say of things to do, and of course of things to avoid. One can sit on their perch and judge through slighted eyes at how I live, or, one can simply take a proverbial seat and listen to my tale. I am somewhat of, well, an anomaly. While you all live, I am currently in limbo. Many think limbo is a state of betwixment(that might not be a word), yet I see it as a state of mind. Being in a place that is both damaging and perfectly innocent at the same time. I have the attention span of a new born puppy, I am constantly looking for something else to do, and I self loathe constantly about anything and everything. I will be here to wonder, wait, and bewilder the world with a joke here, and a smile there, yet my mind is always looking for something new. I am excited for three things. To see my friends when I am not in their presence, to get drunk, and...well.....I forgot the third. Now, some may look at this poetry of motion and think I am looking for sympathy. Here is where I am different. I love my life. While I see how I live to be a complete joke, I am always laughing righ along. I love everything, and yet still loathe it. Explain to me one day in the distant future why a man can look down upon his life and have such conflicting viewpoints. I cannot wonder without anxiety, love without curiosity, nor roam without a fleeting sense of uncomfortable hatred. I love my life , and all in it, but I am sensing a slight pattern of self destruction. Why am I complaining upon this blog that we are supposed to use for lighter tidings? I guess it is because I am still drunk from the incredible night before, the girl I ravenously, and continuosly, had sex with is still sleeping in my bed, I have nothing to do but wait till she wakes so I can once again, and, well, I'm fucking bored. Still feeling sorry for me?

murph and mac

are talking about what's the difference between Thick and Plump. Anyways someone please get some pics/clips of that chick on Amurrican Idle. She was pretty fine back in the days of NG. I'd go as far to say she was the hottest senior when we were Jr's. then again i'd go as far as say I was high off my ass most of that time I went to school Jr year. That shit you wrote about Heath Ledger not sleeping is pretty crazy if it is true. He basically died because the Joker was such an intense character.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

So yes, I was watching American Idol.......

and I'm not afraid to admit it to all of you.... this is definitely some humorous television - watching people who think they can actually sing a cappella and pretty much wreck themselves on national tv. anyway, this attractive girl was basically mumbling this high-pitched song and forgetting words and I look up to see sarah long. two seconds later she was compared to william hung by one of the judges so really not much to brag about but the Northgate reality show connection lives on!

about heath ledger: when I heard the news around 3pm this afternoon, it was so shocking and saddening. I couldn't believe that just a week or so earlier I had posted about the dark knight trailer and begun a discussion about him and his acting skill. the death is very tragic; even more so if it was accidental as some are saying (including his family of course). I am sure there will be more news to come from this in the coming days but regardless of whether it was accidental or not, we have all lost a talented human being.

and about marshawn lynch:

The Best Preview Ever

RAMBO this trailer came out monthes ago. But its such a great trailer this movie looks pretty fuckin bloody.

Heath Ledger Dead

Wow. Terrible Terrible news. In my eyes, becoming the cheap man's Johnny Depp, first being typecast as a pretty boy, he tried vigorously to avoid those roles taking odd ball roles instead. I think his role as Joker in The Dark Knight would have opened up the door for him big time, its too bad, a career that ended right before it really started to roll. I will def be in attendance to one of his last roles in "The Dark Knight" which I've read cause him to have some major problems which may have contributed to his drug related death. Here is a excerpt from IMDB.com Trivia on "The Dark Knight":

The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result.

Also here is a Bio on Ledger from IMDB.com

When a young, hunky 20 year old heart-throb Heath Ledger first came to the attention of the public in 1999, it was all too easy to tag him as a "pretty boy" and an actor of not much depth. He has spent the past five years trying desperately to sway this image away, but this has indeed been a double-edged sword. But that comes much later in his story. Heath Ledger was born on the fourth of April 1979, in Perth, Western Australia. As the story goes, in junior high it was compulsory to do one of two electives, either cooking or drama, and as Heath could honestly not see himself in a cooking class, he tried his hand at drama. Heath was talented, there was no denying that. However, the rest of the class did not acknowledge his talent, possibly out of jealousy. When he was 17, he and a friend, decided to pack up, leave school, take a car and rough it to Sydney. Heath believed Sydney to be the place where dreams are made, or at least, where actors can possibly get their big break. However, upon arriving in Sydney with a purported 69 cents to his name, Heath tried everything to get a break. His first real acting job came in a low budget movie called Blackrock (1997), a largely unimpressive cliché; a teen angst film about one boy's struggle when he learns his best mate raped a girl. He did not have a large part in this movie. In fact, it was a very small one. The only thing of notice in his role is you get to see him get his lights punched out. After that small role, Heath auditioned for a role in a TV show called "Sweat" (1996) about a group of young Olympic hopefuls. He got offered one of two roles, one as a swimmer, another as a gay cyclist. Heath accepted the latter because he felt to really stand out as an actor one had to accept unique roles that stood out from the bunch. It got him small notice, but unfortunately the show was quickly axed, which led him to look for other roles. He was in "Home and Away" (1988) for a very short period, in which he played a surfer who falls in love with one of the girls of Summer Bay. Then came his very brief role in Paws (1997). Paws was a film which existed solely to cash in on guitar prodigy Nathan Cavaleri's brief moment of fame, where he was the hottest thing in Australia. Heath played a student in the film, involved in a stage production of a Shakespeare play, in which he played "Oberon". A very brief role, this did nothing other than give him a small paycheck, but nothing to advance his career. Then came Two Hands (1999). He went to America trying to audition for film roles, showcasing his brief role in "Roar" (1997) opposite then unknown Vera Farmiga. He could not find any American roles but then Australian director Gregor Jordan auditioned him for the lead in Two Hands (1999), which he got. An in your face Aussie crime thriller, Two Hands (1999) was outstanding and helped him secure a role in 10 Things I Hate About You (1999). After that, it seemed Heath was being typecast as a teen hunk, which he did not like, so he accepted a role in a very serious war drama The Patriot (2000).

What followed was a stark inconsistency of roles, Heath accepting virtually every single character role, anything to avoid being typecast. Some met with praise, like his short role in Monster's Ball (2001), but his version of Ned Kelly (2003) was an absolute flop, which led distributors hesitant to even release it outside Australia. The Order (2003) was absolutely terrible, and A Knight's Tale (2001) was just light entertainment. Heath has had such a wide variety of roles that he seems unsure what to do with himself next. Despite being a very talented comedic actor, he seems to only want serious roles, which has hindered his career. He is by no means one of the greatest actors out of Australia, but in his brief career to date has suggested he could become one, if only he accepts the right role.

seriously

i can't imagine any commissioner that i would want to come back in this situation. Unless somehow 2pac was the commish, maybe i would want to see him stick around. Otherwise, I think there is something crooked going on. Why would anyone want to give an extention to a person who helped put the league into this situation ?? But think back, back before we were born, Richard Nixon wanted to amend the constitution so he could be allowed to serve a 3rd term. Are we experiencing the same deceitful trend that our flower child parents did back in their 20's?? Stay tuned......

Great Joke

Gittes comes bursting in, slapping a newspapers on his
thigh.

GITTES
Duffy, Walsh --

Walsh comes out of his office, Duffy out of the other
one.

GITTES
(continuing)
Sophie -- go to the little girl's
room for a minute.

SOPHIE
But, Mr. Gittes --

GITTES
(insisting)
Sophie.

SOPHIE
Yes, Mr. Gittes.

She gets up and leaves.

GITTES
-- so there's this fella who's
tired of screwing his wife --

DUFFY
Jake, listen -

GITTES
Shut up, Duffy, you're always in
a hurry - and his friend says why
not do what-the Chinese do? So he
says what do they do? His friend
says the Chinese they screw for a
while -- just listen a second,
Duffy --

A stunning YOUNG WOMAN appears behind Gittes in his
doorway. She's shortly joined by a small, GRAY-HAIRED
MAN. They listen, unseen by Gittes.

GITTES
(continuing)
-- and then they stop and they
read a little Confucius and they
screw some more and they stop and
they smoke some opium and then
they go back and screw some more
and they stop again and they
contemplate the moon or something
and it makes it more exciting.
So this other guy goes home to
screw his wife and after a while
he stops and gets up and goes into
the other room only he reads Life
Magazine and he goes back and he
screws some more and suddenly says
excuse me a second and he gets up
and smokes a cigarette and he goes
back and by this time his wife is
getting sore as hell. So he screws
some more and then he gets up to look
at the moon and his wife says, 'What
the hell do you think you're doing?
(Gittes breaks up)
... you're screwing like a Chinaman.'

Sir Charles Barkley quote

Another great Barkley quote:

"Kevin Garnett is one of my favorite players of all-time, of this generation."

Martz in Win-Win Situation

Mike Martz has been handed a key to the city of San Francisco. The only problem the key won't work until after the 2008 season. No matter what happens next season for the 49ers Martz will be labeled "Savior" or "Head Coach".

The 49ers offense was so bad and useless, its boring to post their offensive stats on this page. So for Martz to succeed even to Norv Turner status which was getting the offense ranked in the 20s, will make him out to a genius of sorts. There is no possible way the offense could be as bad as it was this year. Martz has the creativity to atleast make the 49ers offense watchable.

Depending on the record of the 49ers, say between 5 and 7 wins the Head Coaching position could be handed over to Martz. Then if the 49ers do win over 8 games Martz could look like this great conductor who can bring such a dead thing like the 49ers offense alive and breathing. With that Martz whose under contract for only 2 years, subsequently the length left of Mike Nolan's contract, he could find himself up for head coaching positions elsewere. Martz even said in his press conference introducing him as OC of the 49ers, "I'd like to be a head coach again. The opportunity just hasn't presented it self."

Looks like Martz is right where he wants to be.

Another great scene...

Great Scene... everyone should see this movie

D Smeder Votes for.....

Obama Bin Laden. Speaking of Bin Laden, and Documentaries, I was just reading about Morgan Spurlock, the guy who did Super Size Me, and supposedly he has a documentary coming out this year called "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden." So from what I heard he goes on a search for this guy, gets close to where he is and doesn't go through with it for fear of his life. My whole thing is, there is no way the United States Government would allow Spurlock to pull something off like this. We're using hundreds of thousands of troops and thousands of casualties to find this guy and kill his Cutthoats, and some goofy fuck with a video camera, who ate Mcdonalds for a year is gonna go find him? I call Bullshit. I hope this movie isn't real and it is a figment of my imagination. Wait? WHat's going on. Am I typing this?? ....

From ESPN.com: "Nothing frightened Martz about replacing Jim Hostler, who also was fired last week after the 49ers finished last in the NFL in points (219), total yards (3,797), yards passing (2,320), offensive touchdowns (23), first downs (218), sacks allowed (55) and third-down conversions (31.4 percent)."

Wait... wouldn't it be that they finished FIRST in sacks allowed?? Ouch that sentence hurts.

The Canadian Prime Minister vote

So who are you voting for up there Senor Smeder??

Your pro-choice, wishy-washy global trader, anti-gun, pro-alien, tree hugging, pro-"change" Barack is slightly behind Hilary currently in New Hampshire. Make sure you get your absentee ballot in for ya boy when the primary comes around.

Documentry Idea...

I've been tossing around the idea of how much free stuff I can actually obtain. I thought about this while in Bodega Bay last week. Jenny's parents arranged a scavenger hunt pitting the Frevele children against Frevele children's friends (they all brought 1 friend) Anyways we drove around town searching for these random ass things, and I noticed any time we mentioned to ANYONE that we were on a scavenger hunt people would practically drop whatever they were doing to assist us.

Example:
2 different colored golf balls, so myself and one of the younger friends RAN onto this golf course, we got right by one of the greens as one of the guys was lining up his shot while the other was about to swing, they saw us running to them and both stopped.

"Hey, guys we're on scavenger hunt we were wondering if you could help us."
"A scavenger hunt? Sure what do you guys need?"
"We need two different colored golf balls."
So the guy who was about to putt, steps away from his shot takes one white ball out of his pocket tosses it to me, takes off for his golf cart and searches his bag. Meanwhile his other friend has already gone through his pockets showing he only has a white golf ball so he runs for the cart and searches HIS bag. Suddenly one of them pops out a yellow ball from their bag "Here you go need anything else?"
"Nah thats it from here thanks guys"

So this scavenger hunt got me thinking back to an old idea for another movie I had, How Much Free Stuff Could I Get From Corporations? The premise was to write "fake" letters to big time companies and complain about something or other and tell them how upset I was over a certain circumstance that happened. Usually in these situations companies don't want to be sued so they send you, if it McDonalds, a few coupons for free burgers and maybe a McDonald's T-Shirt. So I would just write complaint letters to 50 or 60 or 200 companies complaining and seeing how much free shit I could get.

So I've thought about combining the two but I don't know how, but I also don't know what the message would be. More importantly would it be legal? My dad says "No you'll go to jail" But my argument is "Publicity is publicity, how many people would be attracted to someone taking something from the big time companies." I mean its the American way if you think about it. Problem is I don't know where I could go from there after getting all this stuff or if I need to.

Also think about the ramifications it could have in the long run, with complaints and shit like that? I don't even know if it would be positive or negative for companies let alone the american public.

Let me know what you guys think and toss out some ideas if you have any.

There is a right way to handle it.....

and in my opninion, Barry is the one that does it right. He refuses to acknowledge any questions regarding it, kind of like Belicheck and McGwire did after they were asked to respond to their scandals. I think there is an equal amount of doubt in both Barry and Roger's stories, but the fact Roger goes on 60 minutes and makes a huge deal about it looks worse in my eyes. Not to mention the fact when Mike Wallace asked him if he would take a lie detector test, he said pretty much every word except yes. "Will it clear my name?" "Will that be good enough for America?" I got an idea Roger, take the fuckin test, and then we'll see what everyone thinks after you bomb it worse than I did on an 8th grade math test. Kruk was right. Grab some pine, MEAT!

Who would you rather be: Bonds or Clemens?

It seems like months ago that Roger Clemens was the headlining name of the Mitchell Report. Now hes suing people, taping phone calls, and Raphael Palmerioing it on 60 minutes. Clemens seems hell bent on trying to clear his name of this. Meanwhile whatever happened to Barry Bonds? As of October 29, 2007 he is a Free Agent, with no destination in site. He is no longer the headlining story of Steroids, that title now goes to the Rocket. Both of these men's careers have been superb, but now they have been cast under a huge dust cloud of conspiracy.

When talking on 60 minutes Clemens expected a little leeway thrown his direction. He's angry that a 24-year major league career didn't earn him the benefit of the doubt. "You'd think I'd get an inch of respect," he whined to Wallace. "An inch. How can you prove your innocence?" Roger was a free man while everyone and their mothers lambasted Barry Bonds for the past few years. Clemens was doomed once his name showed up that morning on the Mitchell Report. He thinks that since he has over 350 wins and seven Cy Young awards that he should be protected from all of this.

Apparently Clemens hasn't been a big baseball fan as Barry Bonds was chasing the most historic record of all-time while having syringes thrown at him, reporters attack him while with his son, 80 foot fan made signs held up behind him, racial slurs I don't even want to think about thrown in his direction from left-field bleachers, all while still awaiting his fate on lying to the grand jury.

Barry has presumably been through hell and back and hell and back and hell again. He's shown that he wants no part in talking about steroids while Clemens has been pretty jumpy about the topic, although thats after being coached for 12 hours by lawyers.

So far neither one's approached has worked 100% as Bonds has been down a long drawn out road, and still has many twists and turns ahead. Clemens on the other has just sat down for the ride. Maybe both could've taken a note from the page of Lance Armstrong, he's been pretty quiet for some time, maybe its cause he's handled all the right way. Or is there a right way to handle this anymore?

Fred Taylor Loses Unique Nickname

Jaguars running back Fred Taylor lost his title as the best player to never make the Pro Bowl.

He was added to the AFC roster Tuesday, replacing Pittsburgh's Willie Parker. Parker broke a bone in his right leg last month and pulled out of the league's all-star game, allowing Taylor to get his first Pro Bowl invitation.

Taylor finished fourth in balloting last month and was made the first alternate. He initially thought he missed out on a trip to Hawaii for the 10th consecutive season. But then Parker injured his leg two days after rosters were announced.

"Whenever it came up, I said I'd cross that bridge whenever I get to it," Taylor said Tuesday. "Now it's here. It doesn't change my approach at all. My team has been excited ever since I guess they understood what happened to Willie that particular week."

Taylor ranks 17th on the NFL's all-time rushing list and had been the only player in the top 49 to never make it to Honolulu.

Taylor said finally making the Pro Bowl was enjoyable, but it won't help the Jaguars defeat unbeaten New England in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs Saturday night.

"I don't think it's going to do anything for us this week playing a team the caliber of the Patriots," he said. "It's good to see that it's there, but it doesn't change any of the routines."

Taylor ran for 1,202 yards this season and averaged a career-best 5.4 yards per carry -- better than AFC selections LaDainian Tomlinson, Joseph Addai and Parker -- and finished the regular season with five consecutive 100-yard games.

He also had two of the four longest runs in the league this season.

He ran 16 times for 48 yards and a touchdown last week at Pittsburgh before leaving the game in the fourth quarter because of leg cramps.

The Jaguars entered the fourth period with an 18-point lead, then watched it evaporate when the Steelers scored three consecutive touchdowns. Jacksonville pulled out a 31-29 victory after quarterback David Garrard ran for 32 yards on fourth down, setting up Josh Scobee's 25-yard field goal.

"Thankfully we won the game," Taylor said. "I don't think I ever would have forgiven myself for that. But it really didn't hurt us."

Taylor said he didn't know what caused the cramps, but added they became painful after he ran about 60 yards following one of Garrard's interceptions.

"I really locked up after that," Taylor said. "I'll just try to hydrate a little bit more, eat a little bit better. I thought I did everything by the book. It was just something that happened."

So was getting to the Pro Bowl.

Taylor initially considered turning down a Pro Bowl invitation if either Tomlinson, Addai or Parker couldn't make the trip for the Feb. 10 game -- he even said "maybe the Pro Bowl doesn't deserve Fred Taylor" -- but his wife convinced him otherwise.

So he gladly accepted the offer Tuesday.

"He's very excited about receiving that honor," coach Jack Del Rio said. "We're happy for him. Fred's been one of the all-time greats here in Jacksonville. We're very happy for him individually. But I think Fred would tell you he's most excited right now about the opportunity to pursue a championship."

Dark Knight and Posting Videos

This is the first preview this year to get me pumped for a movie. I loved Batman Begins and I can't wait for this movie. Only superhero movie I want to see.

Excerpt from IMDB.com Trivia On "The Dark Knight"

"The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result."

I like Ledger alot for this role he looks fucking nuts and I love when he shoots that rocket and his instant reaction right after he shoots it, classic Joker twitch.

To post a video from Youtube instead of giving us the link, under the description is a "Embed" with a link underneath it, copy and paste that embedded link and the video it self will show up.

The Dark Knight -- new Batman movie preview

I am not sure how to post up the videos straight onto here so you gotta old-school copy-paste these bitches:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=usIyEL7ut5A

Not sure if all y'all liked Batman Begins but if you did, this one looks pretty tight as well. Needless to say, Heath Ledger definitely has a different spin on the Joker than Jim Carrey did. Better? The jury's still out. What do you guys think of Christian Bale as Batman? I think it was a good choice - he's got that quiet, strong, and serious demeanor.

On a completely different topic, you should see this Snoop interview about his guest role on the Showtime show Weeds. Classic S-N-Double O-P-D-O-Double gi-zee.

Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? "Celebrity Edition"

So during this BCS National Championship game, there have been multiple ads for this "celebrity edition" of the "hit" game show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (we already know the host definitely isn't). And that's fine - all game shows have these special weeks to use name power to hype the show but I've got a big problem with their usage of the word celebrity.

Since when is the cousin of George Bush considered a "celebrity"? I don't care if he's the host on some whack TV show. This is FOX not Versus. You would hope they could afford to move their way up the celebrity totem pole a little higher than Billy Bush. Was Spike Fereston not available?

Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?

Too Bad Nobody Else Joined Fantasy Hockey

Cause Derek is doing a great job of completely fixing this league. I think the past 3 or so weeks his team and mine are a combined 94-6-3 since Derek is benching everyone on our opponents team and then benching the same guys team for almost 2 monthes he hasnt won a stat since November.

But may I remind you this was all on Derek's terms, since he began the season in last place by losing his first 6 matchups. But the best part is there are only 6 teams in the league so all of us will make the playoffs regardless.

Fucking DJ Hockey Puck.

Movie Review: Juno

I saw this movie the other night thought I might throw out some of my ideas about it.

First I arrived 5 mins into the picture as I had to stop at my local watering hole to meet Big Worm, Natalie and her BF Kevin. Worm was almost drunk and he said to catch up, so of course Baby just fed us shots and mixed drinks that we downed in under 10 minutes. Kevin drove us to the theatre, by the time we sat down Tony was flat drunk.

Anyways. The movie.

Juno excels and suffers from the same thing, writing. Ellen Page plays Juno, a teenage girl who gets pregnant from her best friend, Paulie Bleeker, played by Superbad co-star Michael Cera. Ellen Page gets nearly 100% of the screen time while Cera shows up at a measly 30% or less. None the less, Page's character has some extremely witty lines and she's sarcastic as fuck about the whole being pregnant thing. I wont toss out any plot lines at all, but her father played by JK Simmons who was the Chief in the Spiderman movies has a few great scenes with his daughter Juno.

Like I said the movie excels with its writing, but it also suffers form its writing, Its not that the writing hurts the movie there is just instances where the writing tries a little too hard. Juno will say some real witty stuff, then its almost like they tried TOO hard for her to be smart and she just sounds like shes just spewing out random lines that are over the head of everyone in the scene. The relationship between Juno and Bleeker isn't really shown too much, maybe there was alot of it in the first 5 mins I missed but Bleeker really doesn't seem like he's all to concerned about the baby. But as the movie progresses Juno realizes how much she cares for Bleeker although there isn't that much interaction between them.

The movie is overall a comedy with some sweetness mixed in, and you can tell where the movie is going to take the sentimental turn, but there is an awkward almost pedophile moment in the movie luckily the movie didnt go that direction but it was awkward. Jason Batemen and Jennifer Garner turn in good unknown performances, I said unknown because I had no clue they were in the film at all.

Basically this is a pretty good film with some witty sarcastic dialouge. Anyone who is a parent the final 30 mins will them a little hard, especially mothers. Go see this movie if you haven't with alot of crappy CGI shit out there and boring stories, this movie has a simple story but will keep your attention.

GRADE: solid B

We can all agree

Don't get sick, unless you're sick wit it. Anyways onto something that can't wait.... SPORTS
How do you guys feel about the wild card weekend. I personally wanted Vinceanity to crush LT and the gang Sunday but we can't always get what we want. Any of you guys see the Clemens interview with that Mike Wallace character. I don't believe him. But I also don't even really care at this point. He and Barry are 2 of the best of "The Era" and they areboth a product of it, so It is time to forgive and forget in my opinion. But just for the record a few of you guys can answer this. When we saw the Yankees Giants play that saturday game last summer, Did Bonds and Clemens ever face eachother, and if so didn't he walk Barry? My memory is fuzzy, I remember more about how shitfaced I got at Sarah's birthday the night before. Over
and out.

I'll tell you one thing about....

I'll tell you one thing: I will never agree with a universal health care system that smokers and non-smokers pay an equal tax rate. It is a statistical fact that people who smoke cigarettes carry higher risks and have larger health care costs over the course of their lives. With the increasing research and data on the effects of smoking on an individuals health, there is no reason that anyone should light up - let alone all the money wasted when buying pack after pack. I understand freedom of choice and its importance in modern society but one individual's decision to take on the vast risks associated with cigarette use should not be paid for by others.

To take is to another level, health insurance rates should be linked to this as well (I don't believe this is the case as of now). All things equal, a 25 year old cigarette smoker should pay more than the non-smoking 25 year old - a risk-based system that allows the insured to pay their portions more effectively.

George

yes

Derek?

are you paying taxes in Canada?

I don't know George

It seems to be working up north alright. They just take each person based on the severity of the injury/illness, and if you only have a cold they will ask you to Grab Some Pine, MEAT! Although you have the right to purchase private coverage up here as well. But the bottom line is they will not turn anyone away from the Hospital. Even a foreigner pot smoking hippie like myself with no Coverage outside of the states.

My Views on LarryBud's Post

Those are some serious questions that you are posing.

Personally, I consider our freedom very much being withered away by this government that we have in-place. First, I think after 9-11 everything has changed; we no longer can do the same things that we once could with the same freedom; we are not obliged to follow certain rules and regulations that abide by what the government says "protects its people from the tyranny of Islam." This is complete Bullshit. I think that Khalid or I could attest, because we have been to the Middle East, that life is very different from the way our government or our media portrays it to be. Sure, life is different, but it is not chaotic. If you ask most of the people in Lebanon they will say they love America, its ideas, its art - movies and music - and many of the other "things" that represent what America is. What they will say is they do not believe, much the same way we do not believe, that the government is upholding the backbone of what America is; that is, freedom to voice an opinion. Many of my cousins want to come to America, but most say "I want to come, but after Bush is gone. Why can't you vote Clinton back?" Well for my sake I hope its not Hilary, she is the ultimate Socialist.

Hilary Clinton, or better yet, voting Democrat is voting Socialism/Less Freedom. Do you want that? Do you want more taxes? For, this is why America revolted in the first place; well of course there are other reasons, but I do believe the levying of taxes to pay for wars that we did not even want to fight were some of the main causes for why Parliament instituted so many faulty taxes. Another point for why Socialism is not the answer, and rather it is the Republican view of Laissez Faire that is the real way America should be headed in this "new" world. Health Care. Democrats want Universal Health Care; they want every American to pay a tax to fund health care for the entire country. Do you even know what percent of our GDP goes to Health Care? I think Khalid can attest to this - its about 17%! The tax would be huge!!!!! And this is not the end of the line for the cost of health care - no, indeed not, imagine what the percentage will be when the Baby Boomer's are all on Medicare. My Health Economics professor posited a number of around 25%!!!! Our taxes would be astronomical, and this does not include the new taxes that we would have to spend towards funding this ridiculous war we are fighting, where every new quarter the Senate is approving more money spent towards the war.

If this reason alone is not good enough, let me prove to you yet again that voting Universal Health Care is illogical - and indeed it has proven to be illogical. Imagine a world where everyone has health care. Ok, now imagine that you get a cold, something not serious, but because you only have to pay a small co-pay, or maybe no co-pay at all, you consider to yourself "hey, I do not have to pay to go to the Doctors, why not go?" Now imagine if everyone did this; that is, go to the Doctors for reasons that you do not really even need to go to the Doctors. Do you understand the inefficiency that this is causing? The amount of time the Doctor(s) have to waist to tell you its just a cold, go home. Do you not believe me? Well if you don't, then Khalid will attest to a multi-billion dollar research project designed by a group of Universities a decade ago. This test was to find out if people, when they knowingly did not have to pay as much to see a doctor began seeing the doctor more frequently; and it was not because they were more sick, its because the opportunity was there, and the cost was minimal. Let me use an analogy, the water system. It is very cheap, and I do not know about you, but if I had to pay a higher price for water than I know we all do now, I would not be running the water as frequently.

Listen, there are many more reasons for why Universal Health Care is illogical, and if you want to really debate this then I would love to, because I know I will win. It is illogical, and there is no way you can make something that is illogical logical. So, anyways, I think I have ranted enough about this for now, and I want to read the rest of the Blogs, but I will very much respond to another one of Scott's questions in the very near future.

Netflix does it again

Netflix subscribers will soon be able to seal those red envelopes for good and opt to download films straight to their high-definition TVs. The movie rental company is joining forces with LG Electronics to develop a set-top box by the second half of 2008 that will allow customers to stream movies instantly.

The company's Wednesday announcement pools them in with several other media giants attempting to seize the emerging market, including Apple and Amazon.com. However, Netflix Inc., as the world's largest online movie rental service with more than 90,000 titles on DVD, may be in a better position to succeed where others have floundered. Last100, a digital technology news and review website, reports:

Apple is expected to announce … a video rental service for iTunes, but the only known studio participants are Fox and Disney, hardly the catalog Netflix could offer. Cable companies, telcos, and anybody else selling video-on-demand services should also be concerned. Why spend $4 to rent a movie when you already subscribe to a Netflix plan, which will offer viewers many more choices?

Most of Netflix's roughly seven million customers rely on mail carriers to deliver and return their rentals over several days, making streamed video more attractive to many consumers. Breaking into the straight-to-TV market can help lift the burden of snail mail, reports The New York Times:

The move could help transform Netflix from a successful company with a cumbersome dependence on physical media and the Postal Service into an important player in a rapidly emerging digital media landscape.

Increasingly easy access to high quality videos on and through the Web may further curtail DVD sales, reports MarketWatch, a business and finance news website by Dow Jones & Company.

Among the possible consequences of the Netflix-LG alliance is that some consumers will see one less reason to buy DVDs. In the first six months of 2007, DVD sales dropped 12.5% from the year-earlier period…

Investors have shown waning faith in the longevity of a company thus far reliant upon a mail-in organizational structure, even though Netflix invested more than $40 million towards the development of its current streaming service during the last year. The service provides instant access via PC to over 6,000 titles. According to The Associated Press:

The financial commitment hasn't been enough to convince many investors that Netflix will be able to survive a widely anticipated shift that will turn DVDs into an afterthought as digital downloading proliferates. The persisting worries are one of the biggest reasons that Netflix's stock price remains roughly 30 percent below its highs of four years ago, even though the company has become more profitable while signing up millions of new subscribers since then.

Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix, spoke of the LG set-top box as just the first of many such joint efforts by Netflix with other companies to make its content available through various platforms. The New York Times reports:

We want to be integrated on every Internet-connected device, game system, high-definition DVD player and dedicated Internet set-top box," [Reed] said. "Eventually, as TVs have wireless connectivity built into them, we'll integrate right into television.

The move is not without its detractors. According to Techdirt, a technology news website, a set-top box that works only with Netflix will limit consumer choices and could lead to a standards battle between competing companies similar to what has been seen with HD DVDs. The Techdirt piece continues:

If there were a standard that others could plug into, then it would encourage more people to upgrade. However, if the competition is between a "Netflix" and some other device, it may make people wait to see how the market really shake out.

Shaun Hill over Alex Smith huh? So you're just going to eat whats left of Smith's 6 year 50 million dollar contract? And play your 3rd string quarterback? sure Hill looked decent. But remember Alex won the first 2 games of the season for the niners, then on the first series of game 3 was hurt from then on out, he was never the same.

What I'm saying about Nolan is that he's brought all this talent in, and yes the defense was better, the offense again under Nolan's watch has been terrible. Though last year it was acceptable with Turner obviously running the offense. But I'm saying Mike Singletary could be a very fucking good coach, and if we try to give Nolan one more year and it blows he's obviously gonna be gone. while singletary could take off for another team and we would never get a chance to see what he could do for us.

Many, almost all the players on the 49ers respect Singletary just for who he was. Players listen to him. Do you think the Alex Smith/Mike Nolan little beef that went on this year would've happened if Singletary was Head Coach? I don't think so. Nolan seems like a wishy/washy type guy. Singletary is more of an authoritive figure and doesn't seem like he'd let that type of bullshit ruin in the media for as long as it did.

I'm just hoping Singletary stays on for one more year, we find a GREAT offensive coordinator, keep Alex Smith out there, and if Nolan fucks up this next year I push for Singletary.

A surprising post.

I'm surprised to see you say that Squall. I'm surprised at a lot of the Niner Nation at this point actually. When Nolan came aboard there was nothing but positivity coming with his name, even though he hadn't been in the position before, and had little experience elsewhere, ( from what I knew about him). I know his Father made quite a name for himself when he coached so maybe people expected the same from Mike, but regardless I think Mike Nolan deserves one more year to try to turn it around. This time without Alex Smith in the way. I say get Shaun Hill healthy, and make him the only option for next season. Let Alex Smith blow one more game early next season, and go straight to Hill. Hill has shown more in 2 games than Alex Smith has in 2 seasons, injuries or not. Live from Vancouver, this is Dylan Smeder signing off.

49ers coaches

Are the Niners giving Mike Nolan one more crappy year while passing on what could be a potential great coach in Mike Singletary? I think so. I think where ever Singletary goes that team will have a better chance of winning, and I do think he will be leaving. But if Singletary doesn't leave, he should be first in line for the Head Coaching positioning of the 49ers.

But first and foremost we need a fucking offensive coordinator...Mike Martz is free...?
